Parting the Clouds is a Qi Gong movement, symbolic of revealing something hidden and bringing about clarity as the clouds separate. Thinking this would be a perfect name for their home studio, Parting Clouds Yoga was established in 2009 by Steve and Nancy Sloan, who were both Reiki masters and certified with a 500 hr yoga Teacher certification from Amrit Yoga Institute in the Ocala Forest - Saltsprings Fla. They both acquired advanced training in Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Tai chi and Qi Gong. From their love for yoga, yoga history and its benefits, as well as their healing arts practices, they felt each had a lot to offer to their community. They taught in their home studio at Hickory House in Perrysburg, Ohio, as well as the surrounding areas, providing yoga classes for events and communities such as Hospice and Sunshine.
At the time Steve and Nancy were active in their yoga studies, their daughter Phoebe, living in Seattle Washington was enrolled in Yoga Works, a yoga teacher training school, where she became certified. She too had a love for yoga, yoga history and its benefits since JR high school when she and her dad would go to yoga classes together on a regular basis.
After Phoebe returned to Ohio and taught alongside her parents, at various venues, the three found Deborah Chapman, and her beautiful studio, Tonic, she opened in Maumee in 2012. Phoebe was hired to manage the studio with the three of them teaching alongside a wonderful staff of employees. They found a home in Tonic, and a beautiful community was built.
Fast forward to today, where Phoebe and Nancy found themselves full circle with an incredible opportunity to open their own yoga studio. Despite the unfortunate passing of Steve, the dream to open a family yoga studio lives on, as they honor him with the name Parting Clouds Yoga. They also honor Deborah, as she since passed away, the spirit of her vision to create a thriving wellness community lives on. Phoebe and Nancy feel such gratitude for all that has brought them to this place today, where Parting Clouds can reveal the path for those in this new community to discover and explore their yoga journey.
